  • A self-taught cybersecurity practitioner, Mr. Mikhailov began his professional journey in 2011 after building a technical foundation through the Cyberpatriot program and as a Cadet Major in Civil Air Patrol. He was one of the youngest contributors to the SANS Institute, publishing the first peer-reviewed Linux Security Checklist at age 17, and 8 years later received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award in 2018 from President Donald Trump for his STEM mentorship efforts in the local Colorado community.

    Prior to founding Thalorin, he led the AI Security practice at KPMG, where he helped lead over $100M in security and audit engagements, including strategic advisory for Fortune 100 clients and government programs. He previously served as a cybersecurity engineer at Lockheed Martin, and later a DoD cyber red team member specializing in adversary emulation working alongside the NSA and USAF. As a Staff Engineer, Dmitry also led the hardware pentesting operations and Application Security program at Seagate Technologies. Mr. Mikhailov first founded and led Ockom in 2015, a boutique cybersecurity firm supporting clients like Google, Activision, and multiple tech startups.

    He has authored and co-authored research published by IEEE and AFCEA on the intersection of AI and national security and Unix Security, and featured as a speaker at the conferences including the Space Force Conference.

    Mr. Mikhailov is an IEEE Senior Member, holds numerous credentials including the CISM and GPEN, and is an active member on the ACM Technology Policy Council and local ISSA chapters.

Web3/Crypto Lead

  • Nathan Fox supports compliance operations at Thalorin, with a focus on emerging risk domains such as Web3, digital assets, and evolving regulatory frameworks. With over a decade of experience in cybersecurity and application security engineering, he has held roles across a variety of industries in and out of public sector.

    Prior to joining Thalorin, Mr. Fox supported data loss prevention programs and application security initiatives at Fortune 500 organizations, including Seagate Technology and AbbVie. He has conducted security assessments for both browser-based and mobile applications, implemented threat modeling protocols, and overseen vulnerability remediation programs in highly regulated environments.

    Nathan contributes to compliance analysis for new domains, assists in marketing and communications strategy, and supports customer engagement efforts related to decentralized infrastructure and crypto-adjacent regulatory concerns.

    Mr. Fox studied Business Information Systems at the University of Colorado Denver, and his technical experience includes advanced threat modeling, SAST/DAST tooling, and regulatory frameworks such as ISO, FIT21, and NIST.
